Last mile

January 31st, 2010 5 comments

Hi everyone!

My last week would be very quiet but I'm still a (too) busy week can make :) . In Queenstown I am two steps essentially evenings and during the day I learn river surfing. Best fun to do. You go with a boogie board in the river and try some golfer and undercurrents to deal with. And for me it was free so that makes it always a little fun : Shock: . After Queenstown to Wanaka I went through a very creative route mapped out by myself. After a night in Wanaka I then went to Mount Cook. This is the highest mountain in NZ so of course I had to see ff.

And then to Christchurch for my car to sell. Along the way I would go that long with someone interested. But he let me know that he had bought a car but I was equally welcome. So I went there as long. There appeared to be someone's birthday so 'was' I'll continue to make the home killed steak to enjoy. Evening and grabbed a beer before you know it you stay there for the night. Anyway, the next day arrived in Christchurch. I had one week to sell my car so I began enthusiastically to answer all those interested. The car would be sold via auction on Thursday but within three hours I had a cash offer from someone. True enough a little lower than I hoped but I did the rest of the week not to worry. I have the car with $ 500 profit managed to sell and still had a week's holiday so actually I can not complain : Shock: .

Fiordland

So, where were we. My last message was on the North Island. There have not done much more. Sherlock Holmes looked in the bios with Stine and then drove to Wellington. My great friend David lives there so we have a couple of nights slept on the couch to wait for my ferry. Stine continued on the North Island and went to Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenua-kitanatahu 8-O (I kid you not) and I took the ferry.
That in itself was a story in itself because of the extreme weather conditions where we landed. The boat was beautiful and was thrown everywhere and the dishes from the tables and people were surrendering. But unfortunately we could not go outside so I have no pictures of : Shock: .

Mount Doom

January 16th, 2010 11 comments

My previous post ended on the way to Taupo. Then a girl hard up the mountain and so I offered her a ride. Bicycle in the trunk and let's go! She was also the way to Taupo so that was good. Along the way I told her I Mount Doom from Lord of the Rings was going to climb and my enthusiasm was apparently quite contagious. So we Taupo but we are beaten and driven to the Tongariro Crossing. This is a tough hike of about six to eight hours while you go through between two volcanoes. One of the most beautiful hikes that New Zealand is rich. This hike I wanted to do earlier with Ryan but when the weather was really bad. And just did not seem like a good plan, so this came out okay.

We planned to start early so we could take the time. We were half frozen wake up that morning and I could start the car to get some warm clothes from the trunk to grab. This proved rather difficult to open because it had frozen. Anyway, when we had drawn some warm clothes, we began our journey. Way we saw some signs against as "STOP, Are you really prepared to continue your alpine trek crossing?" And "Seriously Consider turning back". This says something about how hard the journey was ;) .

Free Falls Into Paradise

January 13th, 2010 7 comments

So, I only have half an hour hiero to lose to my story and I have too much to tell.

It all started with a freefall into Paradise. Or: skydive!
Early in the morning I went to a small airport in the far north of New Zealand along with several others where I was going to do a skydiving. In advance just a little instruction how it would all happen and then the plane. We climbed to a height of 1230 feet to it then jump from the aircraft. 'We' in this case is the guy I hung and tied to my cameraman (Yeah, when I do I also have well established ff ;) ).
And when the jump ... Read more ...

Happy New Year everyone!

It is getting harder to come to power, let alone the Internet. So now I have both the weather here, I will inform you soon. As you may recall I had a long road trip with Ryan taken to some friends of the university to visit. After 1600 miles and 36 hours we came to a campsite where a bungalotent was that all of us could settle. Since we were a lot further north than in Queenstown means that it's another half hour before dark and that an à la Costa del Sol climate prevails. The first day we took a boat to Tauranga direction to go shopping. Unfortunately it was too hot so what was ultimately a terasje pick (well I have no shoes ;) ). Evening was cool and what we Cricket (national sport here) played on the beach. The other day we were to follow the beach and climb of 'The Mount'. This is a mountain just next to the site as you can see in the pictures.

And then it was: New Year! Read more ...

Christmas in Queenstown

December 29th, 2009 9 comments

Hi all!
I thought I had nothing for me to hear, but apparently I've just been through a lot in a week that it seems so long ago.
After my previous post I decided to take a moment to enjoy my last night in Christchurch and I am still went into the nightlife. I have a really good evening with some other people. Morning as everyone said hello at the university and then towards Queenstown to leave. Along the beautiful view of everything and of course after some seven hours of driving we arrived in Queenstown on. I have a really nice four days / nights experience. On Christmas Eve, I persuaded Ryan to join a pub crawl. Really megavet with nice people. At 12 o'clock this last because everything according to law shall be closed on Christmas Day. However, 1 pub had permission to stay open longer and was already sold out last week. Ma eventually Ryan and I have still two VIP tickets managed to arrange 8) and we were a little more partying VIP style ala.

The last part of my internship here are over. Tomorrow morning is my last day at university.
Unfortunately I have not been completely received my report, so I will just have to scrape home yet. Unfortunately, I do not want to be here during my trip to yet to see : Roll: . Past two weeks is nothing really spectacular happened to have more to write home about. I am almost every night nightlife dived. Many girls ahem people met during the night. New pubs discovered, ended up in a gay bar, but eventually discovers new potions always arrived home. And during the day in college course work good on my report. This was also the result that last week I at least 1.5 and a maximum of 5.5 hours a night sleep : Shock: .

So the good news: Tomorrow the real work begins!

Tomorrow I will together with the Italian and his cousin in the car for Ryan to go in Queenstown. Ryan would actually come to us, but I did Christchurch after three months actually seen. It is a trip of 7 hours so around the evening we will arrive at the party town of New Zealand!

I'll keep you posted!

Heaphy Track

December 9th, 2009 23 comments

Hi everyone!

With this the promised report about my weekend. I have very few pictures taken so I'll just tell a story a day. The people in a hurry can better immediately scroll to the end ;) .

Day 1

As mentioned in my previous post, I came quite spontaneously the idea for a weekend to pull out. So gezegt done so, and at night around 1 o'clock I left the Heaphy Track. The trip was quite a sight to experience. It was a full moon, the mountains were all the water turned pitch black and silver. If we had been some teenagers would be a nice start of a bad horror movie. After several hours the eyes were tired and I parked the car for a nap. The next morning I woke up the sun in my face and it was time to get some petrol in the car to throw. So just what cars long run if someone accidentally jumper cables had and then I continued my way. At the last village on the road we stopped for some last minute shopping. Then I drive out of town and I get a police car with flashing lights behind me. When this also put the siren on, I finally decided to stop by the side to stop. I was a little too much haste to have some me back about $ 190, - cost. After the last village Unfortunately it proved to be an enormous distance. So even halfway through a break in a cave system (Middle Earth for LOTR fans). There was just a tour so that just as quickly meegepakt.

Eventually came around 14h, I was almost at the beginning of the trip. I had a few rivers by car which fortunately went well. When the trip could finally begin. The rain came pouring down now with the air so it was an immediate fresh start. In the first hut we stopped for a snack. I ran against four people who ride just behind them (without a drop ;) ). These nice people I have given my car keys so that I will soon own less need to travel to the car. This would leave them in a village near the Tourist Office.

The first day I had 17.5 km non-stop mountain walk on. This appeared to be taking longer than expected because when I thought I was finally there was a sign cabin 5 km 8-O I knew it would be dark around 20:30 so I had an hour to get there. Briskly walked and finally after the last mile in the darkening forest anyway I finally came to the hut. I was happy not alone in the forest because the cabin had seven 50 + ers present and a girl of 21. Just nice and warmed up and then chatted to bed on time.

Impulsive travel

Hi everyone!

5 hours ago I decided to do something with my life (in the short term it). After me two weekends and evenings pretty much bored, I have decided to use it again to pull out. Is this wise two weeks before my deadline? No, but since I have to wait for some stuff I do it anyway. Soon I certainly more sorry that I did not stick to my report, I started maja, tie post : P .

Planning: the Heaphy Track . It is a walk of about 80 kilometers in four days that I want to do. Why four? Because I really need to work on my report and four days because food is lighter than six.
However, the term which I have planned is rather short. The first hut which is booked for tonight. And this means that for the time I first get there. This means 7 hours drive and 5 hours non-stop on-mountain. The hut is in fact quite elevated. Anyway, so I'll just come back from the supermarket and would soon leave for the first part of the route.

And now ... we wait ...

November 26th, 2009 12 comments

Day loyal readers / readers!

I actually have little new to say but sometimes I tend a sign of life to the Netherlands to send ;) . The good news is that I'm better now. Are a few days completely free of symptoms, so it's time to get back to the beer to go here :-D . I also now have a roof over my head. I live with 3 guys in a house. With a roof over my head is actually more to it. Some windows are in fact past time after the tennis ball machine ... The outside of my room you can actually see the attached picture.

As regards the title my design of the pump is off. The command is sent to the workshop and the parts are ordered. And now ... we wait ...
And actually that is quite annoying. For that, a few weeks before everything / here and I have only to Christmas for my assignment : ( . So that is rushing at the end. Calm before the storm.

Anyhow, I still have plenty to do but it did not really today. So I have just given to my new photography hobby.
