Ring of fire

Day faithful readers!

A lot has happened here in Korea. The past few days were mainly devoted to excursions. We have visited several research institutes and companies.

Tuesday we went to have a fusion power station. This is really very impressive. Fusion means nuclear energy but safe for people who do not understand it. However, this is not yet commercially available and cost effective. Of course we could not take pictures, so you must believe it really but very powerful!

In France they are the first viable fusion power station to make about the world, but Korea was not allowed to do so because they had no experience with it. So they 'ff' itself a fusion reactor built and now they do it. Really really what this country (similar to GB in size and population) get all together in technology. They started late with the industry because they've been to 54 in war.

The next excursion was a nuclear power plant. This is not the safe nuclear energy ;) . In a presentation given and it was sitting on it. But we asked if we could see the nuclear reactor. Now this is not the intent normal, but we were lucky that at the time it was just outside use. So we just go in there we talked. Koreans themselves are usually not even in there!

We expect to see just a big installation like the previous tour, but they did it even further. We are on the reactor and could climb by a thick layer of water of 3 meters of the reactor see!

The water itself is radioactive uranium rods and we could just see it. (I do not know how much radiation we have suffered, because in the West is something really not possible!) Probably we urinate with a fluorescent beam.

This was really a powerful excursion. The following day excursions to the next set of Hyundai.

This means that we in the morning to get the world's largest car factory have been! Every 10 seconds a car rolls because of the band. We are in the assembly lines, etc. where they went to see the cars put together. Really zillion Koreans who are all a part screw, best Lache. And outside the factory huge hectares of new cars all shipped. They have 400 drivers in service those cars from the factory and on the boat ride. Those guys drive really fast and precise, nice to see.

Then we went to see a huge shipyard where they build ships of 350 meters long. That's really rude mechanical engineering. Only the propeller of a ship weighs 110 tons.

In this factory, they also have the world's largest diesel engine built. For the wtb-ers among us: How much horsepower do you think of a 2-stroke diesel cylinder 30 is? (If you add this a stroke of 3 meters and a diameter of 1 meter per cylinder : O ).

But enough about the tour, what do we have experienced. We have an official meeting with the mayor of the capital. (Imagine ff for a group of foreigners who will chat with Cohen). We are truly heroes!

Dutch hero's are anyway, because Guus Hiddink in 2002 in terms of Korea has put football on the map. So as always we should have done something we call simply "Holland!, Hiddinke!"

We have a korean girl in our party and told me everything. So we are the ideal image of the Koreans. "You are all very hansom". We are here on the street really checked. Today in an aqua park and have all these girls want us in the picture.

I also invented the phenomenon bathhouse. With a few men, we are 1.5 hours earlier every morning (sleep So we really only half as long so haha) to the morning just to go to the bathhouse. They have those hot and cold baths and saunas etc. really a wonderful start to the day!

Especially since we night sleeping on mattresses korean. This was because the organization had ordered cheapest. But it turned out to mean no mattress. We just sleep on the floor.

Even less news. I have my foot a half weeks ago severely sprained. Therefore I can not run a half day so missed EEE. Now things get better.

Owww, the title refers both to the fusion reactor as the feeling in the toilet when you get to eat very spicy: p

Now, I stop here. The story can be a bit inconsistent but sometimes things to shoot me in and I do not feel anything after reading ;) . I hope the pictures give a good impression, though it can take some time because I think I'll get a Korean computer really can not figure out how I must decrease. I can also not show too much.

Until spreeks and thanks for the nice comments so far!

Haha, for the radioactive waste would be about 2 meters I must dive. That seemed not exactly the most healthy plan at that time in that water.

And yes, it will be good

Hmm, I know it all anymore. It was a 5 with a lot of zeros ;)

And in France you will really not be able to look in the reactor itself, I fear ...

    Hi Tim
Have your story 2x read, but if you know so I do not really understand much of all those technical details. Let this be preferred to other techies among us. But from what we hear, are you guys again sometime. That sprained ankle, you have risen with recklessness. (I had warned you, remember). Furthermore, the pictures very clear, but you'll have cut down many more. We wish you much pleasure and many impressive excursions. Greetings from all of us.
